GET A LIFE.... COACH!
Dr Chris Andrew

Coaching has been around, in one way or another, for a very long time, but there is a fresh resurgence of interest these days, and it tends to be seen in very positive terms. It can be extremely useful for those people who may not need, or do not want, counselling or psychotherapy.

What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching seeks to be holistic and integrative, and focuses on areas such as work, family, relationships, health, spirituality, recreation and finance. There are a number of different approaches a Life Coach may take, but my own style is multi-modal, which means I use a variety of techniques. I am a trained medical doctor, a Psychiatrist and a therapist, and I also have a Certificate in Psychological Coaching, Stress Management and Problem-focused Therapy, and am currently completing my Diploma. I am also a committed Christian, and for me coaching is a fresh and inspiring way of helping people address practical issues relating to lifestyle and relationships. I wish I'd had a Life Coach much earlier in my own career - I believe it could have made a significant difference!

Who is it for?

If I'm honest, I believe most of us would benefit from this kind of input - individuals, groups, churches, businesses can all find coaching helpful and rewarding. If you are struggling with any of the following or similar issues, you may benefit from coaching:

  • Faith - spirituality, doubt, your relationship with God and the church
  • Work - career choice, issues with other staff, disillusionment, retirement
  • Family - relationship with parents, siblings, partner, spouse, children, in-laws and step-families - this can be a minefield!
  • Relationships - singleness, loneliness, divorce, gender issues, communication style, social skills
  • Health - lifestyle, time management, stress, addictions, physical illness
  • Finances - lack of funds, over-spending, debt, decision-making

How does Coaching work?

We have an initial assessment session together and, once I have heard the issues you would like help with, I design a programme tailored specifically to your needs. This approach applies to groups and companies too. Coaching can be done face to face, or on the telephone.
It can be such a help to have someone to talk to who can also be a mentor and guide in helping you make good, healthy, godly decisions for your life. An objective look at your situation, options and possibilities can make the world of difference and enable you to enhance your own potential.
Whether you would like to receive some coaching, or perhaps train as a Life Coach yourself, why not get in touch with me?
